If you are a combination sleeper, think of the pillow as two pillows in one. The standard pillow has 9 inches of side sleeping area on the right and left. The queen has 11 inches. And the king has 13.5 inches. If you don’t have shoulder issues or crave a lot of pillow when you turn on your side, you can go with a smaller size than recommended. For back sleeping, the king-size has an extra inch of recessed area. This is for those who do not like a closer cradling feeling and prefer more head space.
